The founding Program Director for Master of Science Clinical Nutrition (MSCN) will be responsible for the attainment of accreditation from Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). This position is responsible for program organization, administration, fiscal management, ongoing review and assessment and planning and development. This is a twelve-month, full time non-tenure track faculty appointment. Academic ranks commensurate with experience.
Essential functions include directing the planning, development, implementation and administration of the Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition Program.
•Responsible for the academic quality of the program •Provide leadership for specialized accreditation and university regional accreditation. Attain and maintain ACEND accreditation status including timely submission of annual report, program fees, students’ verification process and other reports as requested •Recruit faculty as needed to meet the needs of the program and curriculum •Coordinate student admissions processes, including collaboration with the Graduate School office of admissions and enrollment services •Participate in student recruitment, advisement, evaluation and counseling •Plan and conduct formal meetings •Supervise MSCN program faculty, monitoring workloads and performance •Teach required courses in the curriculum in areas of expertise •Coordinates and supports inter-professional education between the program and other disciplines at Pacific •Engage across professional and disciplinary programs in the development and growth of the curriculum to ensure meaningful collaborative opportunities in all aspects of the teaching and learning program •Uses innovative instruction and technology in the development and delivery of the curriculum •Plan, develop, and evaluate all courses and the overall curriculum •Develop policies and procedures for effectively managing all components of the program in accordance with the University’s policies and procedures, including program admissions, retention, and completion to ensure fair, equitable, and considerable treatment of prospective and enrolled students •Review and evaluate survey data from course and instructor evaluations, graduate exit interviews, alumni surveys, and employer surveys to ensure student outcomes and goals are achieved •Oversee and implement the Student Learning Assessment Plan based upon survey outcomes •Maintain communication and coordination of the program with the faculty, clinical preceptors, and all individuals or disciplines involved with the program •Maintenance of records and complaints about the program received from students or others, including the disposition of the complaint and resolution •Oversee budget and manage program resources ethically and responsible in accordance with University policy •Serve on Committees and taskforces as requested by the dean •Serve on state or national professional committees as appropriate •Represents the program to the community and healthcare organizations and at regional and national dietetics educator meetings •With support of the Dean, develops and maintains an advisory board for the program •Actively work on scholarship activities •Works with the dean and institutional advancement and collaborates with the Office of the Provost, development teams and other departments to enhance corporate, employer, alumni, and other stakeholder relationships, thereby developing additional resource opportunities •Assist in other related areas as requested by the dean.
Education/Experience/Certifications: •Credentialed as a registered dietitian nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed by the State of California •An earned doctoral degree •Three years professional experience post credentialing
