The Mental Health Tech is a vital part of an interdisciplinary team and is responsible for the provision of patient care by performing specific nursing tasks in accordance with organizational and regulatory compliance under the supervision or a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include taking, recording and reporting vital signs and other clinical measurements such as pulse oximetry, height/weight, nutritional and fluid intake/output. Consistently performing patient care skills needed to assure patient comfort and safety, and participating in care of the patient environment and equipment. The Mental Health Tech is also responsible for maintaining continuous alertness and response to patient safety issues and participates in maintaining a safe and secure patient care environment. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of CHRISTUS St. Patrick Hospital, and demonstrating behavior consistent with the Core Values.
High school diploma or GED
Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and medical staff both verbally and written
Current CPR and CPI, or completion within 90 days of employment and recertified annually
