Tenure-Track Faculty Position Open to rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor Canada Research Chair Tier 2 in Nutritional Pathobiology

The School of Human Nutrition of McGill University’s Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Nutritional Pathobiology. High priority research areas include the pathobiology of nutrition-related diseases throughout the lifespan, nutritional biochemistry of health and disease, epigenetic inheritance of disease susceptibility through generations, and damage to commensal microbiota. The ideal research approach will encompass basic discovery and translational research in the identification of targets and development of novel nutrition-based interventions.

Gilliam Institute for Global Food Security. The successful candidate who satisfies the eligibility conditions of the Canada Research Chair (CRC) program may be supported by the University for nomination to a Tier 2 Chair in Nutritional Pathobiology, which provides protected time for research within a full-time academic appointment. Nominees for Tier 2 Chair positions must be emerging scholars and hold the rank of assistant or associate professor, or possess the necessary qualifications to be appointed to these levels. The successful candidate will teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels advanced metabolism including research methodology, and establish and/or maintain an externally-funded research program, and develop research collaborations in a multi-disciplinary, multi-sectorial environment at the national and international level. The successful applicant is also expected to participate in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e.: teaching, graduate student supervision, mentorship, and involvement in academic and administrative committees).
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in nutritional sciences, biochemistry, physiology or biomedical science discipline with a strong record of publication in high-quality scholarly journals. Candidates with a minimum of 2 years postdoctoral training are preferred.
Demonstrated experience in metabolism and at least one other area selected from genetics, epigenetics, molecular, or biomarker discovery to elucidate biochemical, physiological and metabolic mechanisms underlying disease processes and to guide appropriate nutritional intervention strategies.
Candidates who do not satisfy the CRC eligibility criteria for a Tier 2 Chair are nonetheless invited to apply for the position.

About McGill University - School of Human Nutrition
The School of Human Nutrition (formerly the School of Dietetics and Human Nutrition) is the oldest teaching and research institution in Human Nutrition in Canada. Our primary mission is to improve human health during the life span by training future leaders in the fields of dietetics and nutritional sciences, in food safety and food security, and in global health and international nutrition. The School is home to 10.5 tenure track faculty and to 5 faculty lecturers/clinical coordinators who oversee the dietetics stage/internship placements in Canada and internationally.
The School offers both undergraduate and graduate programs. Research expertise in the School is multidisciplinary and broadly based, ranging from the bench to the bedside and from the cellular to community levels. Research themes include maternal and child nutrition, interaction of diet & genes with nutrient metabolism, Indigenous Peoples’ nutrition and food safety, nutritional status & food security in developing countries, nutritional interventions to minimize chronic diseases including obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis, and cancer, and clinical applications of nutritional interventions in hospitalized patients. Research is conducted in our on-site research sites on the Macdonald Campus including the Centre for Indigenous Peoples' Nutrition and Environment (CINE), the Mary Emily Clinical Nutrition Research Unit, as well as McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) teaching hospitals .
