DIETITIAN - BILINGUAL ENGLISH/SPANISH
Natividad Diabetes Education Center
Natividad is currently seeking one permanent, part-time (0.5) Dietitian in the Diabetes Education Center. This position is responsible for providing nutrition counseling and education to outpatients. The successful candidate will consult with the medical and nursing staff on nutrition as needed.
Example of Duties:
Provides nutrition counseling and education to outpatients
Prepares education plans covering the steps of nutrition assessment trough evaluation
Interprets clinical, biochemical and lifestyle data for use in nutritional education
Prepares, maintains and updates teaching materials and uses motivational techniques and strategies in nutrition education
Documents the counseling process, keeps records and maintains files
Consults with the medical and nursing staff on nutrition as needed
Participates in the Quality Assurance Program
Minimum qualifications include possession of a Registered Dietitian certificate issued by the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR), the credentialing agency for the American Dietetic Association; proficiency in speaking, understanding and translating in Spanish to include medical terminology; and thorough knowledge of nutritional therapy, clinical and biochemical data, educational and interviewing techniques, nutritional assessment, motivational techniques and strategies, and charting in patient medical records and recordkeeping. Certified Diabetes Education (CDE) certification is highly desirable.
