Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pediatric Nutrition and Obesity Researcher to join our dynamic Emory and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta community. This role is ideal for a PhD or MD with a passion for advancing precision nutrition and addressing pediatric obesity through innovative research methodologies. The successful candidate will have expertise in collecting and analyzing high-quality nutrition data from children and families, leveraging large datasets, and applying cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models, to develop new hypotheses and predictive models for unique health conditions. Experience with obesity intervention trials in children is preferred.
In partnership with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, faculty appointments will be primary in the Department of Pediatrics within the Emory University School of Medicine, with the possibility of a joint appointment with other Emory departments. We offer a highly interactive collegial research environment with state-of-the-art facilities, as well as proximity to and collaborations with the Winship Cancer Institute, Rollins School of Public Health, the Emory Vaccine Center, Emory Lowance Center for Human Immunology, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Requirements
The successful candidate will have a:
Record of Outstanding Research:
A record of outstanding clinical/translational research commensurate with experience level with the potential to significantly impact pediatric nutrition and obesity prevention/intervention. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, nutrition/precision health, child health research, clinical research, early obesity treatment, access to care, big data, systems science and life course research.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in designing and implementing studies to collect high-quality nutritional data from pediatric populations and analyzing large datasets.
National Grant Portfolio:
For senior candidates, a robust national grant portfolio, preferably with a proven track record of securing large or multi-PI grants, federal and foundations.
For early career candidates, a proven track record in securing research funding and impactful publications, illustrating the potential for grant funding sustainability
Leadership Experience:
Demonstrated leadership experience commensurate with career stage, showcasing the ability for critical thinking and excellence in high-quality execution of research projects.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
A record of fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, promoting teamwork, and creating an environment conducive to innovative research.

Qualifications:
PhD or MD in Nutrition, Dietetics, Pediatrics, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field.
Proven experience in pediatric nutrition research and obesity intervention trials.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software and data analysis tools.
Experience with AI and machine learning applications in health research.
Demonstrated ability to manage large datasets and develop predictive models.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and project management abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with precision nutrition approaches in pediatric populations.
Previous involvement in large-scale research projects or clinical trials.
Familiarity with ethical considerations in pediatric research.
