Dairy MAX in partnership with Western Dairy Association is a regional non-profit generic milk product promotional organization created, controlled and funded by dairy farmers and sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Agriculture under its Dairy Promotion Order.
Our mission is to increase demand for dairy products in the Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and southwest Kansas area by executing an industry wide, market-driven business plan that invests resources in a strategic manner and provides the best possible economic advantage to dairy farmers.
Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking a qualified individual to join our school marketing team as a School Wellness Consultant in the Colorado market.
I. School Marketing
Support School Account Development efforts including healthy school initiatives, and school foodservice and nutrition education programs to meet or exceed the school growth targets. Support school marketing leadership in the planning and development of the school channel strategies, programs and execution plans.
Implement all school marketing plans and programs through School Account Development process and programming for top tier school districts a )Execute account development process, marketing strategy, program prioritization and execution for assigned school districts b) Develop effective partnerships with targeted school district decision-makers and influencers including superintendent, school foodservice director, principal, school board leaders, curriculum directors, etc. c) Serve as healthy school resource and marketing expert to key district personnel and work to align and integrate dairy programming with district wellness/nutrition policies d) Implement priority programs to optimize dairy consumption occasions through New Look of School Milk, Expanding Breakfast, After-School Snacking, and A la Carte, and leverage other potential touch-points with children via National Dairy Council Nutrition Expeditions programs e) Track and report program progress through School Market Access on-line database f) Support school marketing leadership in the planning and development of school marketing strategies and programs as requested.
II. Integrated Communications Support
Assist in execution of the Unified Marketing Plan for Integrated Communications as requested by media representative in assigned markets. Implement all Integrated Communications plans and programs for assigned A and B media markets. a) Support channel initiatives with localized cost-effective PR outreach to generate awareness via media impressions and positively promote dairy’s image b) Serve as media communicator to represent and protect dairy’s image c) Maintain current understanding of school related programs such as Fuel Up to Play 60, Dairy Dollars for Schools & key dairy messages in multiple areas such as schools, foodservice, etc. d) Serve as subject matter expert on key topics listed in item C (stated above) & perform public presentations with specific stakeholders such as superintendents, school foodservice directors, principals, school board leaders, curriculum directors, etc. e) Seek creative opportunities to promote key dairy messaging with media and/or organization partnerships as aligned with UMP f) Follow-up and conduct media interviews as requested resulting from pitched media topics such as breaking news alerts g) Serve as liaison to local media contacts for dairy-related information requests h) Participate and coordinate with Director of Communications for media tour(s) and other projects as assigned i) Report out & input results of media-related efforts into on-line database
Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university (MS in Science or Registered Dietitian preferred)
Education or background in school communications, regulations, school food service and/or nutrition
At least 2 years of professional experience selling, networking and/or working in or with schools
Relationship Management a) Viewed by customer as a trusted advisor/expert and a valued partner who actively participates in business planning process b) Accurately communicates Dairy MAX strategies and initiatives to the customer c) Demonstrates understanding of customer business conditions, their needs and the needs of consumers d) Possesses interpersonal savvy demonstrated by building rapport, using diplomacy and tact, and diffusing high-tension situation
Value-Added Selling a) Effectively positions and utilizes Dairy MAX executives to develop relationships with customer executives
Business Knowledge a) Broad understanding of the current and emerging aspects of the dairy industry and its application to customer business processes b) Broad understanding of basic business processes, e.g., new product innovation and commercialization processes c) Familiarity with the Colorado Coalition for Healthy Schools, Smart Source – Colorado Healthy School Index Survey, and other state-level healthy school organizations.
Additional: a) Must be willing to travel up to 35% of time due to business needs within a designated geography of Colorado market. b) Travel may require overnight for consecutive days. c) Flexibility needed within schedule to work some evening and weekend hours as needed.
