POSITION: Nine-month tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to begin January 8, 2018 or August 16, 2018. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The selected applicant will be responsible for 1) establishing and maintaining a collaborative, extramurally-funded research program in community nutrition 2) directing doctoral and master’s student research; and 3) contributing to graduate and undergraduate teaching within the department including the expectation to teach and develop community nutrition-related courses. Service within professional organizations and on committees within the department, college, and university is expected.
SETTING: The Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Hospitality Management employs 15 fulltime tenure-track faculty and is affiliated with the College of Human Sciences. The department offers a baccalaureate degree in program options in Nutrition Science (pre-med), Dietetics, Wellness and Hospitality Management and master’s and doctoral degrees in Nutrition and Hospitality Management. Opportunities to engage in collaborative research are supported by the Center for Health Ecology and Equity Research (CHEER), Auburn University Boshell Diabetes and Metabolic Disease Research Program, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Research Center, Cellular and Molecular Biosciences Program, Auburn University Research Initiative in Cancer (AURIC), and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES). East Alabama Medical Center (EAMC), Harrison School of Pharmacy (HSOP) and Edward via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) provide additional opportunities for translational research. QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in nutrition or a closely-related field, PhD or PhD/RD (Registered Dietitian). Post-doctoral or equivalent experience is desired. At the Assistant Professor level, track record of publication and strong promise of obtaining and sustaining an extramurally funded research program is expected. For the Associate Professor level, an established track record of external funding is required. Excellent communication skills and commitment to teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students is required.
